Back in 2009 when researching this painting, I had the mental image of being able to peel off Nicolas Cage like a Colorform and stick him on a new background. And so The Nicolas Cage Adventure Set was born. (Weirdly, it was a tweet from Roger Ebert about the Adventure Set that led to my getting a literary agent, and eventually, The Astonishing World of Art.)
